Do you know about your Résumé and Interview…Hear from HR’s Desk

1.     When getting a job, it’s important who you know. No matter how nice is your résumé or experience.
2.     If trying to get a job at a specific company, the best thing is to avoid HR. Find someone at the company you know, or go straight to hiring manager.
3.     If you assume, someone’s reading your cover letter. I haven’t read one in 8 years.
HR may judge you based on your e-mail address. Especially if it’s something like bodyshop101@hotmail.com or iliketoeat@gmail.com

4.     There’s a falsehood that a résumé has to be 1 page. So people send their résumé in small font, no one will read that.
5.     Many of us use applicant-tracking systems which scan résumés for key words. The secret to getting your résumé through the system is to pull key words directly from job description and put them on. The more matches, the more likely your résumé will get picked and will be seen by a real person
6.     Résumés don’t need color to stand out. And walking in and dropping off your resume is no longer seen as a good
thing.
7.     Don’t just silence your phone for the interview. Turn it all the way off.
8.     In interview, be what you are, that will help you to be confident.
9.     Watch your words; don’t end up saying what you want or what you are.
10.   Be aware of your attire; it should be decent enough to make you look like professional candidate.
